SERVICE

“Best job ever!” This is what I tell people when we talk about the Fort Collins and my role on City Council. One of the questions I am so often asked is, “What made you decide to run for city council?”

In a word: Service.

In a small city like Fort Collins, the top issues can be quite practical. Fort Collins deserves pragmatic leaders who know how to work together for solutions to our ongoing challenges. Over the past two years, my work has included:

  • Advocating for better cell service throughout the city.

  • Working for added bus routes in District 4.

  • Initiating a request for a traffic light at the busy intersection of Triangle and South College.

  • Advocating for funds and timeline for the second-most dangerous intersection in our city, Trilby and College.

  • Examining the budget to help close the funding gap our city is facing.

Consensus

I am proud and honored to represent ALL the people of District 4. I enjoy meeting constituents and really listening to their ideas and concerns, helping them solve problems, and answering their emails and phone calls. Specifically, I’ve collaborated with the community and my fellow council members in the following ways:

  • Providing a voice for the businesses of South College and working with them to create an identity for the southern gateway to our city.

  • Meeting with and listening to community members to create consensus around tough issues such as the land use code.

  • Hosting monthly listening sessions to hear citizen concerns.

  • Fostering solid working relationships with my fellow council members so we can be an effective governing body for the city.

  • Walking the streets with Outreach Fort Collins to understand the plight of our homeless.

  • Participating in police ride-alongs to witness and understand the work of our law enforcement officers.

I look forward to strengthening all of these relationships, and building new ones, during my next term on Fort Collins City Council.

Results

One of the reasons I enjoy serving on Fort Collins City Council is that in this space, I am privileged to engage in problem-solving. When people come together to solve problems, then we see results and we are able to move our city forward in unity. As a part of the current council, I’m proud to have made progress in the areas of public transportation, road safety, land use, and the city budget. I would like to continue solving problems for District 4 in the following areas:

  • I want to revisit the South College subarea plan that was developed after its annexation and help create an identity for this part of town for businesses and residents. Part of this planning will involve traffic calming measures to ensure safety and livability along this corridor.

  • Parts of District 4 still have electric lines that need to be undergrounded for safety purposes. I plan to advocate for the necessary funding to make that happen.

  • Roads in District 4, where they’ve been annexed into the city, need to be improved to meet city standards.

  • District 4 has more natural area than any other district, and I want to ensure that these areas are properly cared for and available for our community to enjoy.

  • I plan to keep advocating for better cell service and more transportation coverage for the southwestern part of town.

  • I intend to keep representing our water district's interests at City Council.
